My work is informed by scientific research into how horses self maintain in the wild.

James Klund, Minnesota Farrier

I am interested in working with clients for the long-term health and soundness of their horses. Consistent balanced trimming and shoeing minimizes wear and damage to ligaments, tendons, bones and soft tissue. It also contributes to soundness and enhances performance.

I like consulting with clients about the centered approach I follow in my farrier work, which was founded on research into how horses self maintain in the wild. The resulting science from the wild horse studies has been expanded and refined for decades and is based on extensive research and on the practical applications and observations of farriers, veterinarians and scientists around the world.

I have been a farrier since 2016 and am a member of the Equine Lameness Prevention Organization. I am a graduate of Mission Farrier School and completed a rigorous full-time apprenticeship with a world-class farrier and lameness specialist in the state of Washington before starting my business.
